DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) is a validation system used to confirm that an e-mail message has been sent by an authorized email server or individual. An e-signature is added to the email message’s header by using a private encryption key. When the message is received, a public key that is available in the global Domain Name System is used to validate who actually sent it and if its content has been modified in any way. The prime job of DKIM is to obstruct the widespread spam and scam messages, as it makes it impossible to forge an email address. If an email is sent from an address claiming to belong to your bank or financial institution, for example, but the signature doesn’t correspond, you will either not receive the email message at all, or you will receive it with a warning notification that most probably it is not a legitimate one. It depends on email service providers what exactly will happen with an email which fails the signature examination. DomainKeys Identified Mail will also provide you with an extra protection layer when you communicate with your business allies, for instance, as they can see that all the e-mail messages that you exchange are authentic and haven’t been meddled with in the meantime.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Cloud Web Hosting

The DomainKeys Identified Mail option is pre-enabled for all domains that are hosted in a cloud web hosting account on our cloud servers, so you will not need to do anything yourself to turn it on. The only requirement is that the particular domain name should be hosted in an account on our platform using our MX and NS resource records, so that the email messages will go through our email servers. The private cryptographic key will be generated on the server and the TXT record, which contains the public key, will be published to the Domain Name System automatically, so you won’t need to do anything manually on your end in order to activate this option. The DomainKeys Identified Mail email authentication system will permit you to send trustworthy e-mail messages, so if you’re sending offers or a newsletter to clients, for instance, your emails will always reach their target audience, while unauthorized 3rd parties will not be able to spoof your email addresses.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Semi-dedicated Hosting

All compulsory DomainKeys Identified Mail records will be set up automatically by our cloud platform when you add a domain name as hosted in your semi-dedicated server account, so if you decide to get a semi-dedicated package, you won’t need to configure anything to be able to take advantage of the email validation system. The domain must use our name servers in order for its DNS resource records to be managed on our end and as long as this prerequisite is satisfied, a private encryption key will be created on our mail servers and a public key will be sent to the DNS system by a special TXT resource record. All addresses that you create with the domain name will be protected by DomainKeys Identified Mail, which will make it impossible for third parties to forge any address. Both you and your partners or customers can benefit from this service, as it will ensure a higher security level for your online communication.
